Chiro Texpo ’19 is now history. Here are but a few of the observations recorded during the event. Dr. Craig Benton, a chiropractor from Lampasas, was recognized with the TCA Board of Directors Award. Dr. Benton, has served the past three years as TCA’s Scientific Affairs Coordinator and as a valued member of the TCA Legislative Affairs Committee. Lots of excitement on Day 1 of Chiro Texpo ‘19. Besides phenomenal speakers like Drs. Christine Goertz, Eric Plasker and Greg Rose, the Texpo floor was packed! TCA Secretary/Treasurer DrMo Jahadi explained what happened during the 86th Texas Legislative Session at the State of Chiropractic in Texas Update during Chiro Texpo ‘19. Great info and lots of money raised to support the Chiropractic Development Initiative (CDI) for advocacy, legal defense and positive PR for chiropractic. TCA lobbyists Kaden Norton and Josh Massingill also gave at rundown of the 86th Texas Legislative Session. Friday’s Welcome Reception/Alumni Night at Chiro Texpo ’19 was hughely successful. A big thank you to our sponsors Parker University, Texas Chiropractic College, Bergquist Law Firm and ChiroMatrix! The Fifth Annual Chiro College Cup was one of the highlights of the first day of Chiro Texpo ’19. Congrats to the victorious TCC team and well-played by Parker! Parker University jumped out to a fast start, only to be locked in a back-and-forth battle with Texas Chiropractic College. In the end, TCC surged late to pull out a 22-14 victory and took a 3-2 lead in the series. Thank you to our game host Dr. Dev Batungbacal. The annual good natured competition brought a big crowd and lots of energy. On Day 2 the Orthopedic Diplomate courses, Texas Women’s Chiropractic Summit with Dr. Cathy Wendland-Colby and President’s Gala were on the agenda. Saturday keynote speaker Dr. Eric Plasker and Elite sports chiropractor Dr. Greg Rose shared their knowledge with Chiro Texpo ‘19 attendees. The President’s Gala on the last night at Chiro Texpo ’19 offered a celebration of the very best in Texas chiropractic. TCA’s new 2019-20 Executive Officers were installed: President, Dr. Chad Carpenter; Vice President, DrMo Jahadi and Secretary/Treasurer, Dr. Alayna Pagnani Gendron. Hats off to 2018-19 President, Dr. Devin Pettiet for an incredible year. Thank you docs for your service and sacrifice on behalf of all of us. Dr. James Welch Jr., the only two-time TCA President elected with more than a decade’s interval between terms, was honored with the Keeler Plaque, the association’s most prestigious award, while Dr. Pagnani-Gendron was chosen by her peers as Young Chiropractor of the Year. Congratulations to Dr. Steve Sanders for receiving the Ford Johnson Membership Award; to Dr. Craig Benton for receiving the TCA Board of Directors Award; and to Dr. Bill Lawson for receiving the Legislative Award. Congratulations to Dr. Andrew Oteo for receiving the Rising Star Award; to Jeff Jenkins and the TCA staff for receiving the President’s Award; and to Dr. Joey Simon for receiving the Executive Director’s Award. A special congratulation to Dr. Paul Harris, MD for receiving TCA’s Chiropractic Advocate Award. While we are chiropractors and fight for chiropractic as our profession, Dr. Harris and his willingness to put himself out there brought much needed bipartisan objectivity to our legislative arguments. Dr. Harris, MD, came to the table with nothing to gain and only his reputation to lose. His words carried more weight, reached more ears and cut to the front of the line during our presentations. He went above and beyond for us, and in his own words, he would not have been in Austin or even known about what was transpiring between TMA and Chiropractic, if it were not for his 30 year friendship with Scott Wofford and the persistence of Ryan Bailey. Thank you doctors! Congratulations to Dr. Paul Liechty who was recognized with the Top Contributor Award; to all of TCA District 11 for being the Large District Fundraising Heavyweight; and TCA District 2 for receiving the Small District Fundraising Award. Special praise to both the Bergquist Law Firm and Tek-Medical for receiving the TCA Friend of Chiropractic Award. Congratulations to Shelby Elder for receiving the TCA Student Leadership Award and to District Doctors of the Year: Dr. William Leff (District 1), Dr. Jeff Williams (District 2), Dr. Korey Kothmann (District 3), Dr. Greg Carter (District 4), Dr. Hollen Meyer (District 5), Drs. Kris and Tina Ingram (District 6), Dr. Nick Anthony (District 7), Dr. Bill Lawson (District 8), Dr. Keven Ellis (District 9), Dr. Carmen Carlile (District 10), Dr. Jack Christie (District 11) and Dr. Michael Mauger (District 12). The TCA's Women's Summit and High Tea was incredible! The TCA really stepped up and gave women doctors the opportunity to connect and create a kind of sisterhood within Texas Chiropractic. Ladies, Don’t miss the next opportunity! Special thanks to Alayna Pagnani Gendron for making it happen, along with Cathy Wendland-Colby. Dr. Chad Carpenter has officially taken his position as President of the Texas Chiropractic Association. He has already been working hard with the wonderful officers in this association and has been a great advocate of our profession standing against associations that seek to destroy alternative health care that truly works to save lives. Our association, as well as the American Chiropractic Association, needs so much dedication and help from all Chiropractors and people who love and benefit from Chiropractic. Keep supporting us so we can keep saving lives! Congratulation and smooth sailing to TCA’s 2019-20 Leadership Team: Dr. Chad Carpenter was sworn in as TCA President, Drs. Mo Jahadi and Alayna Pagnani-Gendron were named Vice President and Secretary/Treasurer, respectively. Dr. Devin Pettiet is TCA’s Immediate Past President. State Directors include: Drs. Tony Smith (District 1), Ryan Hill (District 2), Jenna Hillman (District 3), Steve Sanders (District 4), Andrew Oteo (District 5), Tucker Woods (District 6), Ryan Bailey (District 7), Jennifer Gardner McMorris (District 8), Stacey Rodgers (District 9), Josh Bonine (District 10), Jose Simon (District 11) and Tom Hollingsworth (District 12). Dr. Daniel Gutierrez remains TCA’s Parliamentarian. Thank you all for your willingness to lead the profession. We appreciate you!
