Geographically, Texas is a huge state and the Texas Chiropractic Association has seen a big portion of the Lone Star State this spring. The 2019 TCA Tour of Texas, our road show across the state, kicked off last month in style with successful events in Austin (District 8), Fort Worth (District 4) and Dallas (District 5). Attendance was outstanding and it was exciting to see so many new faces. TCA prides itself on being inclusive; all DCs are welcome, regardless of your number of years in practice or your philosophy. In addition to receiving up-to-the-minute reports on the 86th Texas Legislative Session, attendees were treated to fabulous food, courtesy of TCA Platinum Sponsor Bergquist Law Firm. We also raised plenty of dollars for the Chiropractic Development Initiative (CDI) to fund our advocacy, legal and public relations initiatives to advance chiropractic in Texas; thank you to every individual who made a donation, particularly our new 100 x $100 CDI contributors. Congrats to the leadership from all three districts and David Bergquist and his stellar team at Bergquist Law Firm for throwing an awesome party! The TCA Tour of Texas is just getting started. On May 9, TCA rolls into the Valley for the District 12 stop in McAllen. Then we’re headed to San Antonio on May 23 to wrap up the month. You can find more details on these upcoming events on the Texas Chiropractic Association Facebook page. To RSVP, email info@chirotexas.org or call the TCA office at (512) 477-9292. TCA encourages you to bring a spouse/significant other or, even better, another chiropractor. After a brief summer break, there will be additional TCA Tour of Texas events on the calendar. Stay tuned for announcements on an event near you! Texas Legislative Session We’re down to the final weeks of the legislative session. Check out the Legislative Update for the latest progress report on our pro-chiropractic legislation. Without a doubt, it’s been crazy-busy in the TCA office. TCA’s legislative team has been putting in long hours … for you and your patients! Every hour spent at the Capitol means rescheduled visits and lost revenue for these dedicated doctors. We appreciate your dedication to the profession and your love of chiropractic. And kudos to all of the DCs who have made phone calls, sent emails or visited legislative offices over the past few months to get support for our bills. It’s truly a team effort! But we’re not done yet. We may be reaching out to you in the coming days, so pay attention to legislative alerts and any calls to action by email, text or on Facebook. Chiro Texpo ‘19 Finally, if you haven’t made plans to attend Chiro Texpo ’19, what are you waiting for? TCA’s annual convention, June 7-9 at the Hyatt Regency Dallas, is THE chiropractic event of the year in Texas. We have put together an A-list of speakers that includes sports chiropractor Greg Rose, DC; respected researcher Christine Goertz, DC; keynoter Eric Plasker, DC, who is best-known for “The 100-Year Lifestyle”; the always popular Tim Maggs, DC, to name just a few. If you need to complete your TBCE, Medicare or acupuncture hours, we’ve got them.
