It’s been a great few days in the Washington, DC, area. I was privileged to join several TCA leaders at the American Chiropractic Association’s ACA Engage 2026. Our main purpose was Thursday’s “Day on Capitol Hill.” Specifically, Texas chiropractors participated in nearly 30 meetings with Congressional staffers to galvanize support for the Chiropractic Medicare Coverage Modernization Act (H.R. 539/S. 106). This bipartisan and bicameral legislation ensures Medicare patients have full access to chiropractic care. For DCs treating older patients, you know how challenging it can be within the current Medicare system. If we can make this become law, it truly would be a game-changer for our profession and improve the health of seniors in this country. Heading to ACA Engage, Texas had 15 co-sponsors in the House for H.R. 539. In the coming weeks, we hope to add to our tally. Contact your U.S. representative and both Texas senators and encourage them to support H.R. 539/S. 106. Make sure your voice is heard! Remember, it’s ALWAYS about your patients! A big thank you to TCA Vice President Dr. Andrew Oteo well as Parker University faculty Drs. Celia Maguire, Kristy Carbonelli, and Ashlee Kates-Ascioti for joining us at these critical meetings. A huge shoutout to TCA Executive Director Jeff Jenkins, our own Dr. Craig Benton, and the student leaders from Parker SACA – Victoria Farrar, Helena Johnson, and Macy Braddock – who helped with the scheduling of meetings and ensured that Team Texas ran smoothly. The doctors and Parker students who were on Capitol Hill represented you very well, even with an impending winter storm. Tremendous team effort! With ACA Engage over, there’s plenty of follow-up in the coming weeks. In the meantime, TCA will continue working on our legislative agenda for the 90th Texas Legislative Session 2027. We expect to see you at TCA Legislative Day next year in Austin. Stay tuned for our “save the date” notice! We are still in the first month of 2026. There’s lots happening with TCA, including our TCA Regional Seminar in McAllen, our hybrid 2026 TCA West Texas Conference in Lubbock, Chiro Texpo ’26 this summer in Austin, TCA Tour of Texas stops, and plenty of district meetings and fun events. Read eSource, visit the TCA calendar on our website, or follow us on our social media channels for all the details! Thanks for being a TCA member! Your membership proves your commitment to the future of chiropractic in the Lone Star State. See you soon! Don White, DC, FICC TCA President
