When I was sworn as your TCA President over the summer, I shared my list of priorities over the next year. One of my biggest goals is to significantly grow TCA’s membership. We’re making some strides with membership, thanks to the efforts of our Membership Committee. Our amazing Chair, Dr. Sammie Mees, and her incredible volunteers have been working hard, adding new members (most of whom had an expired credit card that needed to be updated!). Regardless, we still have a long way to go. Here’s the facts: Less than a fifth of licensed Texas chiropractors are TCA members. As a long-time TCA member and the son of a TCA Past President, TCA is in my blood. It’s hard to comprehend why some doctors refuse to join. TCA is THE ONLY state association fighting for you and your patients, and it’s a real community that is there for you from your first adjustment to the day you retire. TCA is my “chiropractic family” and provided me with friends for life. Last month, TCA created a new tool to keep you connected to your colleagues, our new TCA member app. If you haven’t downloaded the app, what are you waiting for? Visit the App Store on Apple and Google Play on Android and search for Texas Chiropractic Association. It’s so easy! If you have any issues, reach out to the TCA office. This is one of the newest TCA member benefits, and I couldn’t be more pleased. Ok, you are a TCA member, so I am preaching to the chiropractic choir. You get what TCA is all about, but you would get even more out of it by becoming more actively involved by your district and by attending events like Chiro Texpo, the West Texas Conference and the TCA Tour of Texas. That’s where relationships are built, and you are invited to join the fun. So, you’re already a TCA member? Super! I have a job for you. Reach out to the chiropractors down the street from your office, the former classmates you still talk to, and other DCs who cross your path. Bring them with you to a TCA event and, if they’re not a member, get them to join today. It’s a simple ask! Membership is everyone’s job, and the bigger TCA is, the more powerful our voice can be. That matters! Wishing you continued success! Don White, DC TCA President
