Member Spotlight - Kaci Roach, DC, CCSP How long have you been a TCA member and why did you join TCA? I joined the TCA several years ago because I know they protect our right to practice and our patients’ right to seek chiropractic care in Texas. I feel like it’s a responsibility to be a member as a practicing chiropractor in our state. What is your favorite thing about being a TCA member? My favorite part about being a TCA member is building relationships and getting to work with my colleagues outside of the office environment. I have learned so much at TCA events that have impacted my practice from clinical skills, to staying updated on current legislative events and keeping in touch with colleagues I don’t see often. How did it feel to take home this year’s Region 1 Chiropractor of the Year Award and what does it mean to you? I was very surprised to receive this award. It felt great to have so many docs congratulate me and encourage me to keep serving in TCA leadership- from former presidents to current leadership and friends. It’s also been really neat to have my patients, family and friends reach out to say they are proud of me and acknowledge my work. Why did you decide to serve in a leadership role in your district and what do you hope to accomplish? I knew there was a need for ‘new blood’ in our leadership, because the same people are the ones always doing the work, and since they have stepped up into higher roles, we need to fill their shoes. I hope to keep up the rich tradition of great leadership and involvement of our district with the TCA! Who has been the biggest influence in your chiropractic career? My first chiropractor, Dr. Jack Albracht, has been my biggest influence in my career as he was the one who introduced me to the philosophy and instilled the importance of the chiropractic lifestyle. What is your top professional accomplishment so far? My highest accomplishment so far in my career is having a patient that is about to graduate as a chiropractor and two more that are preparing to enter chiropractic college soon! What’s something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know about you? I have picked up what I affectionately call my ‘old lady hobbies’ over the past year or two and have started making pottery, doing crochet and hand embroidery and even have my own sourdough starter!
