Rachel Gammon, DC, is a proud native of New Braunfels, Texas, nestled in the heart of the scenic Hill Country. She pursued her academic foundation at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, earning a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Driven by a passion for patient care and a commitment to the field of chiropractic, Dr. Gammon furthered her education at Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena, Texas, where she completed her doctoral studies, earning a Doctorate of Chiropractic. Currently, Dr. Gammon practices alongside Dr. Sammie Mees, Chair of the TCA’s NextGen Committee, at the Chiropractic Center of Georgetown, serving the lovely community of Georgetown, where she and her husband also reside with their two beloved feline companions. How long have you been a TCA member and why did you join TCA? I have been a proud member of TCA since graduating from Texas Chiropractic College in August. While I was introduced to the organization during my time in school, I truly came to appreciate its significance while preceptoring with Dr. Mees. Through this experience, I gained a deeper understanding of the invaluable role the TCA plays in supporting the chiropractic profession. Their dedication to advocacy and education has proven to play an essential role in the success and growth of our field. What is your favorite thing about being a TCA member? Being part of the TCA has been such a fulfilling experience, it honestly feels like being part of a big family. Everyone is so supportive, and we all come together to help grow the chiropractic profession and look out for one another. It’s the kind of community where we all work toward the same goal and genuinely have each other’s backs. Why do you feel it’s so important for the next generation of chiropractors to join TCA? TCA plays a crucial role in protecting our profession. TCA has been a powerful advocate, fighting for our rights against attempts by the Texas Medical Association to limit them. It’s essential for prospective chiropractors to understand who is standing up for our field, having a strong, united voice makes all the difference. Without TCA’s unwavering support, our profession wouldn’t be where it is today. Why are you going to TCA Legislative Day this year and why should your colleagues join you? Legislative Day offers a valuable opportunity to build new connections, advocate for our profession, and gain insights into the policies that shape the way we practice. As I mentioned earlier, the strength of our profession grows with each additional voice and participating in events like this helps that voice grow louder. Who has been the biggest influence in your chiropractic career? I presume that many know, the biggest influence in my chiropractor career has been Dr. Sammie Mees. I am beyond grateful to be a part of her practice and grow as a chiropractor. She has taught me so much in a short amount of time that I have started practicing. What is your top professional accomplishment so far? One of my biggest professional accomplishments has been becoming a part of a practice I truly love. I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve the Georgetown community and to be part of an office that places such a strong emphasis on quality patient care. It’s incredibly rewarding to contribute to a practice that aligns so closely with my values. What’s something about you (a fun fact) that not many people know about you? A fun fact about me, one that a few people might already know, is that I’ve been into powerlifting for about 12 years! Not competitively, but more for lifestyle and enjoyment. Recently, I’ve shifted gears and started exploring calisthenics. I also love spending time outdoors, whether it’s hiking or just taking part in fun activities that get me moving!
