After suffering with migraines for over 10 years and taking countless medications, her neurologist stated she could no longer help and referred her to the chiropractor in the hospital. After a few weeks of getting adjustments, her headaches we gone for the first time in 10 years. She is a licensed chiropractor in the states of Texas and Louisiana. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Health Science from Old Dominion University and graduated from Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena TX, with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Dr. Mecka uses low-to-moderate force adjusting techniques for the whole family, including children and pregnant mothers. She is an Advanced Certified Activator Methods practitioner which allows an individualized approach and uses a combination of activator techniques, light manual/drop and extremity adjusting to assist in restoring the patients to their optimal self. Dr. Mecka is also a veteran of the United States Army and has a passion for treating her fellow brothers and sisters of the armed services. How long have you been a member of TCA? I have been a TCA member since becoming licensed in Texas in 2017. Why did you join TCA? I was active in my association in Louisiana and we always talked about the fight TCA had to endure with TMA so when I became licensed in Texas I knew I had to join TCA to be part of the fight to preserve chiropractic for myself and in other states. We were always told that if the Texas chiropractors fell all of the chiropractors would fall and that was my reason. What do you love most about TCA? I love being around supportive business minded professionals who love chiropractic, serving the community, and believe in what we do. What’s your biggest (or one of your biggest) professional accomplishment(s) so far? My biggest accomplishment so far is starting my own practice with my own money. I started small in 2019 in the back of a salon and recently moved to a 300 sq feet office space. I know that may not sound like a big deal to some, but I did this without any loans and the support of my husband. I also do not need much space because I also am a mobile chiropractor so I am on the go regularly. What’s something about you (a fun fact) not many people know? This is my third career. I always wanted to be a doctor and Dr. Ben Carson was someone I looked up to and wanted to be like. So I decided the fastest way to achieve that dream was by joining the military. I joined the United States Army (the best branch of service in the greatest military in the world Hooah) and after my tour I became disillusioned with allopathic medicine and decided to obtain a science degree that would keep me in the field. I received a BSHS in cytology, which deals with the study of cells in the human body. I always tell people I am the person who reads your biopsy or pap smear. After that career was not what I hoped it could be, I stumbled onto chiropractic due to having severe migraines. I was treated by a chiropractor in the VA and my symptoms went away and decided it was the next step for me. I had to be a chiropractor to save others like myself from years of pain. I enrolled into Texas Chiropractic College in May of 2012 and the rest is history. What are you currently binge watching? The Gilded Age on HBO. I don't know why, but I am fascinated by anything dealing with royalty, upper class, rich and famous lives in early history. It shows how far we have come as a society, but we still have work to do. If you could trade places with anyone for a day, who would it be and why? My dogs Tia and J. They just lay in the sun, lay on the bed, lay on the couch, eat, drink, get scratches and snuggles all day. That's life.
