The TCA January Member Spotlight focuses on Dr. Joseph Adams, the Texas Chiropractic Association’s current Co-Scientific Affairs Department Coordinator which oversees the Education & Events Committee along with a few others. Dr. Adams is a practicing chiropractic clinical neurologist, and loves learning and growing as a clinician. He was awarded Young Alumni of the Year by Parker University in 2021 and he completed his Masters Degree in Clinical Neurology at Parker University in 2020. He practices with his wife in Mansfield at Calibration Chiropractic + Functional Health. When not helping patients and his community he is busy tinkering and building stuff in his shop. Why did you join TCA? I joined during the nerve battle last year because I practice functional neurology and wanted to be able to protect what I am able to do for patients. Also for what the entire profession does here in Texas; because chiropractic works largely in part due to its influence on the nervous system. What do you love most about TCA? My favorite part of TCA is the people, everyone is so nice, and helpful. It doesn't matter how you practice, we are all in this together! What’s your biggest (or one of your biggest) professional accomplishment(s) so far? Earning a Masters degree in Clinical Neuroscience and being able to help patients in ways I wasn't able to before. If you could choose anyone as a mentor, who would you choose? The doctors in the TCA who have not only provided their valuable time to protect the profession here in Texas, but also have built impressive practices, provided well for their families, and helped their community and patients! Those are some serious role models... When you’re not working, how do you enjoy spending your time? My dad was a professional sculptor, so we carry on the tradition of building, tinkering and fixing stuff. My wife and I love making home decor/ furniture along with remodeling our home. What’s something about you (a fun fact) not many people know? I used to design and build transportation systems for non-human primates (monkeys) for medical and research purposes. If you had to eat one meal every day for the rest of your life, what would it be? Mexican food, especially chips and salsa; is my favorite and I could eat it every day.
