Election season is upon us, with early voting starting Oct. 13 and running through Oct. 30 leading up to Election Day on Nov. 3, which is also the deadline for voting by mail. Check out the VoteTexas.gov website to register and find your polling location. Occasionally, we are asked if TCA leans Republican or Democrat, and the answer to that is NEITHER. TCA prides itself on being bi-partisan and pro-chiropractic. The TCA Political Action Committee endorses incumbents based on their past support of chiropractic issues, including co-sponsoring and voting for our key bills, as well as candidates who have demonstrated to be friendly to chiropractic or are considered pro-healthcare. Starting in September, the TCA PAC has hosted a series of Meet the Candidate Forum virtual events with key legislators. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, holding face-to-face political fundraisers has become next to impossible. However, our virtual TCA PAC Meet the Candidate Forum events on Zoom allow Texas chiropractors to get to know the candidates, ask questions and show our support. Doctors are encouraged to attend and/or donate to candidates, particularly if they are constituents. The 87th Texas Legislative Session is coming up in January, but the TCA Legislative Affairs Committee has been hard at work for months to ensure that we represent you well at the Capitol in 2021. The TCA PAC has done its part to ensure that pro-chiropractic candidates prevail. Simply put, we cannot do it alone and we need your help Here’s what you can do: 1) Attend the TCA PAC Meet the Candidate Forums – Check your inbox for TCA emails, visit the Texas Chiropractic Association Facebook page, and TCA Events Calendar, often for upcoming dates. While we appreciate you registering in advance, it is not required. We include the Zoom meeting link in the invite. The first few virtual meetings have been outstanding. Let’s keep it going! 2) Contribute to the TCA PAC – The PAC is the vehicle to support our friends in the Legislature. It allows us to contribute to political campaigns. While the TCA PAC has contributed to several dozen candidates, there are still a few more that require our backing. Please consider making a personal donation to the TCA PAC. You can donate in four different ways, including: - Text TCAPAC to 56512 using your mobile phone. - Visit the TCA PAC page on the TCA website at www.chirotexas.org/PAC and donate online. - Call the TCA office at (512) 477-9292. - Or mail a personal check to the following address: TCA Political Action Committee, 1122 Colorado Street, Suite 307, Austin, TX 78701. 3) Stay informed – That means reading your emails from TCA and following us on social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram). As chairman of the TCA Legislative Committee and a member of TCA PAC Board, let me assure that TCA is working overtime to ensure we continue our run of legislative successes in 2021. We could not do it with you! Sincerely, Ryan Bailey, DC Chair, TCA Legislative Affairs Committee Member, TCA PAC Board
