In conjunction with the American Chiropractic Association (ACA), the Texas Chiropractic Association (TCA) is pleased to designate October 2020 as National Chiropractic Health Month. National Chiropractic Health Month (NCHM) is a nationwide observance held each October. The event seeks to increase public awareness of the importance of musculoskeletal health and the benefits of chiropractic care and its natural, whole-person, patient-centered and drug-free approach to health and wellness. With the theme “Active and Adaptive,” National Chiropractic Health Month (NCHM) 2020 will focus on helping people adapt to the new normal and maintain musculoskeletal health and function in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. After months of sheltering in place, many people are still practicing lifestyle changes necessitated by the pandemic to reduce their exposure: avoiding crowded public areas and working from home, choosing car trips instead of air travel, ordering food and supplies online, and avoiding gyms and other enclosed interior spaces where people gather. As a result, many people are moving less, and some are experiencing pain as a result. NCHM 2020 will encourage the public to adjust to the challenges of staying fit and pain free with a smaller lifestyle footprint by becoming more mindful of movement and posture and by highlighting tips and strategies to help them adapt in healthy ways. In celebration of NCHM, TCA has requested a proclamation from Texas Gov. Greg Abbott declaring October 2020 as Texas Chiropractic Health Month. Working closely with its districts across the state, TCA also is encouraging individual chiropractors to request proclamations from their respective cities to promote NCHM. “The Texas Chiropractic Association is thrilled to work closely with the American Chiropractic Association to commemorate National Chiropractic Health Month in October 2020 in Texas,” said TCA President Mo Jahadi, DC, a chiropractor practicing in Cedar Park, Texas. “During the coronavirus pandemic, it’s more important than ever that people stay healthy and active. Seeing a chiropractic is a safe, drug-free approach to optimize health and wellness.” TCA encourages you to request a proclamation from your city. Getting a formal proclamation is great public relations for the chiropractic profession and your practice. Check out ACA’s Campaign Toolkit for Doctors for information on how to request a proclamation and take advantage of the Health and Wellness Information resources. Feel free to use TCA’s official Chiropractic Health Month proclamation. If your city plans to issue a Chiropractic Health Month proclamation, please let the TCA know in advance by sending an email to info@chirotexas.org.
