Nearly half of doctors have experienced symptoms of burnout -- many of these burnout symptoms are attributable to government and hospital mandated paperwork and burdensome regulations. In that study, burnout was associated with a significantly poorer outcome for patients. America's healthcare system is on life support. More and more doctors are leaving medicine every single day due to burnout and rising job dissatisfaction. CMS announced a new “rule” known as the Omnibus Burden Disruption apparently issued to address the rising rate of burnout among U.S. physicians due to ridiculous and oppressive paperwork requirements instituted by the government. The rule is supposed to "remove Medicare regulations identified as unnecessary, obsolete, or excessively burdensome on hospitals and other healthcare providers to reduce inefficiencies and move the nation closer to a healthcare system that delivers value, high quality care, and better outcomes for patients at the lowest possible cost." Apparently this new "rule" will "increase flexibility for providers and reduce burdensome regulations." In fact the CMS press release goes on to say that the new rules will allow providers to focus on their patients. Apparently CMS believes that this one rule change will “save providers an estimated 4.4 million hours of time previously spent on paperwork with an overall total projected savings to providers of $800 million annually.” Source: https://www.medpagetoday.com/blogs/campbells-scoop/82623
